Class Cards

Hello Bloggers,

I’ve been entering the Cheery Lynn Challenges this year and I’ve really been enjoying it.  It’s helped me get my mojo back, which I’d lost last year due to ill health.  One of the main reasons I decided on following and entering the Cheery Lynn challenges is that I love to make flowers and Cheery Lynn have a wonderful range of dies related to flower making, their flower strip dies make die cutting so quick and easy if you are wanting to make multiple flowers.  The cards that I’ve been making for the challenge are often too big or have way too many handmade flowers on them to use in classes at Kookaburra Crafts, so Jacqui and I have been down sizing them, changing the flowers and generally tweaking them for classes. I thought I’d share some of the tweaked versions with you today.

This first card I have to admit I didn’t make this version, Jacqui made it, she based it on a card that I made (click here to see the original card) for my Mothers birthday and decided to enter it in  a competition for our Christmas party for Kookaburra Crafts. It won and so many of the girls liked it that Jacqui wanted to do it for a class this year. Jacqui made it a bit smaller and used a bought flower in the centre where I’d used a handmade one.

Card number 2 is based on a card I made for CLD challenge number 114 – Winter Whites (click here to see the original card), I remade this one and basically just changed the embossing folder for one that Jacqui had in stock in the shop, we also changed the handmade roses on the original card for bought ones.

Card number 3 is based on the card I made for Challenge number 115 – Snowflakes (click here to see the original card).  As I said in the original post, snowflakes where a major challenge for me, as I’ve never seen snow and I don’t have too many things in my stash that relate to snowflakes.  We’ve changed this one quite a bit, we made it smaller, changed the embossing folder (to one that doesn’t have snowflakes), we eliminated the die cut snowflakes, changed the handmade roses for bought ones and we added a sentiment.

I hope you’ve enjoyed todays cards!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Vintage Birthday

Hello Bloggers,

Todays card is for Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge No. 118 – Add a Flourish.

I’ve kept it fairly simple this week, going for a vintage look, I’ve used one of Cheery Lynn Designs doily dies, the large Rose Strip die and a corner flourish that I have cut up.  The rose is cut from white parchment paper and inked with Antique Linen and Tattered Rose distress ink before being shaped and put together. The papers I’ve used are from a Kaisercraft 6 1/2” paper pad and I’ve distressed and inked everything.

Snowflakes

Hi Bloggers,

Todays card is an entry in this weeks Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge No. 115 “Snowflakes”.  Snowflakes!!!!  I grew up in central Queensland and I’ve never seen snow in my life, so this was a challenge for me.  I own snowflake dies and embossing folders, but even for Christmas cards, I’m not big on snowflakes, because it doesn’t snow here.  But anyway, challenge or not, I’ve given it a go.

I have embossed my white core cardstock with the CLD Snowflake Flurries embossing plate, I’ve left the paper attached to the plate with painters tape and lightly sanded the cardstock to bring out the embossing.  The darker cardstock for the mat and Elegant Labels 4, I’ve actually coloured with a pearl ink because I couldn’t find just the right colour to use.  I’ve used the same ink to colour both the light and dark poinsettias. The centres have been filled with silver micro beads and the holly flourish has been cut from white cardstock and coloured with a silver mist. Unfortunately, even though Cheery Lynn have a huge range of snowflake dies, I don’t own any.  So I’ve used a snowflake die from Die-namics (I’m unsure of the name of it, I’ve owned it for a number of years), I’ve attached the snowflakes with foam tape and kindy glitzed them, for a bit of sparkle.

Cheery Lynn dies used:  B148 Holly Flourish, DL113 Exotic Butterfly small #2, DL113A Small Angel Wing, B324 Poinsettia Strip, B154 Medium Rose

Other Ingredients in this card:  S4-190 Spellbinders Labels 4, S6-005 5x7 Elegant Labels 4, Die-namics Snowflakes, ribbon, pearls, rhinestone flourish, micro beads, white core cardstock from DCWV, 90gsm white regal parchment paper (for the flowers), white linen cardstock (for the card base)

Have a great day and thank  you for looking.

Cheers
